How to keep your blankets and sheets from wadding, balling, or twisting in the dryer?

Hello frustrated people like me who must dry blankets and sheets in the dryer. This is my ritual when I take on this daunting task for my wife.

First, I take the blankets or sheets out of the washer and try to spread and untangle the wet mess. I place it in the dryer and watch within minutes it turns into an egg roll shape. I set the timer to come back in 30 minutes to unroll the blankets or sheets before putting it back in the dryer for another 30-minute round. I was totally frustrated with the process of drying blankets and sheets.

Internet did not show me a Solution to the problem!

I had to do something. I started searching the internet. I found and bought several different dryer balls. They didn’t do what they claimed. All that happened was the blankets or sheets would just eat them and half the time I never found them again. The same happens to tennis balls and wool balls. I also tried to clip the corners of the wet sheets and blankets together. Of course, the clips fell off and the balling began. I did try tying the corners together which made the areas I tied together remain wet.

What does dryer companies Technician have to say about balling, wadding, and twisting of sheets and blankets?

So, after hearing my wife, mom, and many other people complaining about the drying of blankets and sheets. I tried contacting my dryer manufacture for some ideas. This is what I found on the internet.

Thanks for counting on us to help with your appliance problem.
My name is Woody and I look forward to helping you!

You will NOT be able to stop the blankets or sheets from getting balled up (as you say)

The unit drys the clothes by a tumbling action where items will have a tendency to roll as the drum turns.

This is a normal action for any clothes dryer!

if you have more questions please let me know?

DV400GWHDWR/AA Sheets Are Tangled

If sheets are coming out of the dryer tangled up, perform the following:

  • Dry bedding items with 3 or 4 wet towels. The towels will prevent the sheets from tangling.
  • After removing the sheets from the washer spread the sheets out before putting them in the dryer.

Tips:

  • There are products on the market called dryer balls that help prevent fabric from getting twisted and tangled in the dryer.
  • When drying sheets, stop the dryer mid-cycle and check if the sheets are twisted. If they are, spread them out.

Note: This is not a defect, twisted/tangled laundry (especially sheets) is a market-wide concern with all tumbling dryers.

As you can see dryer companies have not come up with a solution.

DIY to the rescue!

So, because I am a DIY type guy, I began to try to solve the unsolvable. This took me about a year and a half to come up with a working prototype. The whole issue was to come up with something that is light and will stay in the middle of the sheet or blanket. After several fails and plenty of I give ups, I finally came up with a solution. The Dwadder is light and durable. I started the test and found that it would just spin around the back of the dryer and not solve the problem until I added two silicone cords. This was the Aha moment. With the silicone cord, I can now keep the Dwadder in the middle of the blanket and sheets. This keeps the sheets and blankets from wadding, twisting and balling up in the dryer. Some of the larger blankets would wrap around the Dwadder but this did not matter because the space in the middle of the blanket was open. This allowed the blankets and sheets to dry faster than normal.

After testing the Dwadder for a year, I decided to share my DIY solution with friend and family. They all were very happy with the results. No more checking  the sheets and blankets every 30 minutes or less. And less time and money spent drying blankets and sheets.

Sharing is Caring.

I am now in the process of getting a patent on the Dwadder and hope to be successful in my small business. I do hope you decide to Dwadd your life like I have and get a Dwadder. I have several videos on YouTube   https://youtu.be/yf1frsJ06Fo  and on my website www.defuturesolutions.com showing the Dwadder in action and how to put one together. I have fully assembled Dwadders as well. So, if you have been searching for a solution for this market wide concern, please stop your frustration and join the Dwad your Life Movement and get a Dwadder. Your wife will thank you.
